Facebook & Myspace Perspectives

Facebook

I began using Facebook my freshman year of college. Back then, you had to actually be a college student, with a valid college e-mail address to have access to the site. I always wanted to get on Facebook prior to that, because my older brother and sister had accounts and it felt like such a private group, so I couldn't wait to get my own page. Over the years, Facebook has become less entertaining in my opinion because anybody can get an account now, with any type of e-mail address. Although the decision to let everyone have access to it, turned an exclusive club into another form of Myspace, my friends and I still use Facebook from time to time.

Myspace

I began using Myspace my freshman year of college. I enjoyed it because you could design your profile with numerous backgrounds and you could also add music to your page. Myspace wasn't ever an exclusive social network, so anybody could get an account. The most privacy you could get, was to make your page public only to your friends and everybody else would have to request to be your friend. Over the years Myspace became very boring in my opinion, which in turn led to me not using it anymore. None of my friends use Myspace anymore either.

I 'like' this page because it is the page to my favorite television sitcom of all-time, Martin. The show ran from 1992 to 1997 and the reruns still air today. I've always enjoyed the show, so that's why I decided to 'like' the fan page years ago.
